We have a small, enthusiastic, ambitious and friendly team with vast experience of training racehorses. We have a flat structure which ensures each member of the team has an input into the wellbeing and plans for each of the horses.

Mike Murphy

Trainer

Mike is a leading City Analyst and in 2008 was achieved the No.1 stock picker position in the Business Services sector in the FT/Starmine survey (equivalent to being top of the Naps table!). He set up Mike Murphy Racing in 2007 following a number of years of ownership and having ridden as an Amateur. He divides his time between his City work and the racing stables. In the knowledge that he cannot be at the stables all the time he has recruited an experienced team. He still rides out if the other lads let him!
Mike’s long suffering wife, Denise, is the racing secretary and is responsible for the book keeping and ensuring we are compliant with the ever increasing rules and regulations governing the sport.

John Cullinan

Assistant Trainer

John (aka Jerry) is a former jockey and following success in that sphere moved into the training ranks. He has as extensive experience of training racehorses and has enjoyed notable success including  training Smokin Beau to win the Portland Handicap. Following periods in France and at Pat Eddery Racing he joined the team in March 2006.

Heidi Cullinan

Heidi (married to Jerry) also has substantial experience of working in racing stables and has a number of responsibilities. In particular she has the responsibility for backing the yearlings and rides work as well as the other numerous duties on a training yard.

James Meunier

James is from Mauritius and has spent 15 years in the Racing Industry with the last 12 at Walter Swinburn. When Walter downsized his stable staff we were absolutely delighted to attract James to the team. He is an excellent rider and a very pleasant individual.

Lois O' Hara

Lois joined the yard in early March, having previously been at Mark Johnston and Alan Jarvis. She has quickly settled in to her new role and become a valued member of the team.

Jessica Godleman

Jessica works on the yard at weekends and during school holidays. She is a very competent, reliable and happy person who is a delight to have on the yard. She is off to University in the Autumn and she will be missed by us when she leaves.

Stable Cats

Lucy and Misty are the two stable cats. Misty is noted for her hunting prowess (the yard is rodent free) while Lucy is the proverbial “fat cat”.
